JULY 8, 2005 | Cushing Technologies PSIMS Computer aided dispatch and records management software chosen by Sand Springs, OK, Police Department

Sand Springs Police Department of Oklahoma has awarded Cushing Technologies Inc. a contract to provide computer aided dispatch (CAD) and Record Management System (RMS) software to complement their recent investment in Motorola’s Premier MDC® mobile data system. Cushing Technologies Inc. is one of the few companies that provides significant integration with Motorola’s widely used in-car technology.

“This will complete our goal of providing full in-car technology” Lt.Fisher told the Sand Spring City Council who unanimously voted to approve the project on June 27th, 2005.

The CAD system to be deployed will also be used by the department’s communication center to provide dispatching services to the Sand Springs Fire Department which services both fire and medical emergencies.

The combined technology means that officers can receive and manage operational data directly from their vehicle as well as having access to the department’s historical data. It also means that communications personnel have an accurate view of all activity whether incidents originate from a public source or by the officers providing the fullest possible community service whilst patrolling the city. Dispatchers have automated access to the state’s record systems to retrieve up to date vehicle and wanted person information without having to perform double entry into different systems.

The Fire Department will now have a system that automatically suggests the appropriate equipment to respond to an emergency, as well the ability to suggest the next suitable responders if initial choices are unavailable or require further assistance. In addition, in the ever diligent pursuit of the fastest possible response, the computer software will be programmed to automatically open the doors of the station bays for the vehicles being assigned shaving valuable seconds off the initial deployment. Dispatch data, responding unit information and event times will be automatically forwarded to the Department’s records system supplied by ACS Firehouse Systems.

The current version of Cushing Technologies Inc.’s Public Safety Information Management System (PSIMS) was launched at the Illinois NENA Conference in October 2004 following successful implementations in Glencoe and Jacksonville, IL. Since then systems have been deployed for other municipal and county agencies, both single and multiple PSAP organizations. The system is provided without per-seat licensing restrictions, which means agencies can widely deploy the product for maximum effectiveness.

Cushing Technologies Inc. was founded by Austin Donaghy, former Director of Development and VP of Wireless Computing for Software Corporation of America Inc. (SCA) which originally developed the Premier MDC product. SCA was purchased by Motorola in 1999. Mr. Donaghy developed SCA’s successful TalkThru CAD and RMS systems.
